Do you like jam? Well, who doesn’t? Yet, you should know that if you buy it, it is probably full of artificial colors, refined sugar, and preservatives.
On the other hand, if you have ever tried to make your homemade jam by yourself, you already know the long hours needed to go through the tricky canning techniques and finally get a few jars.
Fortunately, all of this would be absolutely unnecessary as soon as you try the following strawberry chia jam, which takes about 15 minutes to make, and tastes amazing!
Additionally, it is high in protein and healthy fats, and low in sugar.
Here is how to prepare it:
- 4 cups fresh strawberries
- 4 tablespoons raw organic sugar, honey, or maple syrup
- 2 1/2 tablespoons Chia Seeds
- 1 cup water
Mix the strawberries, sweetener, and water in a saucepot, and cook the mixture over medium-low heat for 8-10 minutes.
Then, smash the strawberries using a fork or a potato masher to get a purée-like mixture, and remove it from heat. Add the chia seeds, stir well, and leave the jam to cool.
Transfer it to a Mason jar or any airtight container, and store the jam in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
