With winter just around the corner and temperatures dropping by the day, the season of flu and colds approaches and chances are that great many of us will “fall victims” to one of these annoying viruses and before you know it, you’re off to the pharmacist to prescribe you some antibiotics or other drugs for your trouble.
But what if we told you that there’s a much better way – a natural tonic – which will make the use of drugs to treat a flu, cold, or other minor viruses redundant.
The said tonic is efficient, inexpensive to make and won’t take much of your time to prepare it. This anti-flu-and-cold tonic is rich with natural ingredients and has strong medicinal benefits.
This all-round root heats up the body, making you sweat and release toxins, and if you happen to have stomach aches or gastrointestinal issues, it will come be quite helpful.
The reason this spice is effective against cold is that it serves as a booster for the immune system, helps with digestion, has anti-inflammatory qualities, disinfects the body and rids it of any small viruses.
This overlooked vegetable is rich in Quercetin – a potent antioxidant with a lot of health benefits – and in addition can help with viral diseases, inflammation, and contains qualities that lower the risk of cancer.
4. Apple Cider Vinegar
It’s nothing new that apple cider vinegar is like a health bomb for the organism and helps your body discard toxic elements, helps you when you have a sore throat, helps with digestion, alleviates sinus infections, and strengthens the immune system.
Jalapenos are enjoyed by many just for the sake of being ultra-chilly, with many people not realizing that Capsaicin – the active ingredient contained in the peppers – can serve to relieve pain and contains anti-inflammatory properties.
Not only does it keep away vampires, it also deters nasty bacteria, functioning as an antiviral, anti-fungal and antibiotic.
- 2-inch fresh ginger root
- 1 tablespoon organic turmeric powder
- 1 whole head of garlic (peeled)
- 1 organic white onion
- 16 oz. raw apple cider vinegar
- 4 jalapenos with their stems removed
After carefully washing the ingredient, mince them and place them in a high power blender. Then add some of the apple cider vinegar and blend on high until the concoction is nice and smooth.
Pour the contents of the blender in a glass jar, close the jar with a lid and cover it with a towel. Let the jar sit still for four weeks, but always remember to shake it once a day as it marinates.
Then strain the mixture using a mesh strainer and put the liquid back in the jar or another glass container and leave it for 2 years. That’s right, two years. You can, of course, make more, much more than one jar, but even one jar is worth the wait.
How to use it:
Take two tablespoons of the tonic every day after you notice symptoms of a cold or a flu. Gargle the liquid and swallow it, but do not dilute it.
After the flu/cold kicks in, take 4 tablespoons a day instead of two, and you may also mix the tonic with honey should you have trouble swallowing. Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us.
